Railways' new refund rules NEW DELHI: The railways have announced new rules for ticket refund which will come into force from October 1.Advancing and postponement of journey on reservation against cancellation (RAC) and wait-listed tickets have also been allowed with effect from August 15, provided confirmed accommodation is available on the revised date. The government today issued a gazette notification allowing people to claim refund from any zonal railway which issues the ticket deposit receipt (TDR).Under existing rules, when refund is not admissible at the station, a TDR is issued in the place of the surrendered ticket. The application for refund then has to be given to the chief commercial manager (Refunds) of the zonal railway which issued the ticket. In case of refund through the station, the passenger will now be required to bring proof of identity like identity card, ration card, or driving licence.
