Italy, Chile make it

PARIS: Italy beat Austria 2-1 to finish as winners of Group B and Chile drew 1-1 with Cameroon today to join them in the last 16 of the World Cup.

Christian Vieri headed Italy's first goal while Roberto Baggio grabbed the second a minute from time.

Chile drew with Cameroon 1-1, taking lead through a Jose Sierra direct free kick in the 21st minute. Cameroon equalised through Patrick Mboma.

Tunisia sacked World Cup coach Henry Kasperczak after the squad failed to qualify for the second round. Deputy coach Ali Selmi would replace him temporarily for Tunisia's last Group G match against Romania on Friday. The president of the German football federation, Egidius Braun, said Sunday was the darkest day of his life.
