NEW DELHI, June 25: Hindustan Football Club and Delhi Police recorded big victories in their group A matches of the Delhi Soccer Association (DSA)-SAIL senior division football league championship at the Ambedkar Stadium here today.Hindustan thrashed Royal Rangers Club 5-0 and Delhi Police trounced Collegians Club 8-0. The policemen led 3-0 at interval.
Hindustan, who are sponsored by Phoenix and Cosco, gave their opponents a torrid time right from the beginning.
Sanjay Sidhu gave Hindustan the lead in the sixth minute converting a penalty kick which was awarded when Rangers' Ved Prakash handled the ball inside the box. Inside-left Amarjeet Singh made it 2-0 in the 12th minute.
In the second half, Hitender Rawat scored twice in succession to make it 4-0. Bhupinder Rawat increased the tally in the dying minutes of the one-sided encounter.
Earlier, Mahesh Bisht three goals for Delhi Police in their huge win. Inside-left Jagya Ram and Balbinder scored two each, while Rajesh Gupta struck once for the winners.
On Friday, Youngmen take on Tarun Sangha, while Indian Nationals will meet Youngsters.
