India rejects proposal
After a four and a half hour discussion, India yesterday rejected the proposal of the Board of Control for Cricket in Sri Lanka (BCCSL) to reschedule the rain hit Singer Akai Independence Cup currently underway in the island nation. On the other hand, both Sri Lanka and New Zealand are agreeable for the proposal.

Beckham adds spice to posh English win
England, revitalised by mid-fielder David Beckham and striker Michael Owen, swaggered into the second round of the World Cup with an impressive 2-0 victory over Colombia. First-half goals from Darren Anderton and Beckham put England firmly in charge and helped ease them through the second period of their final Group G fixture.

American tour operator charged in World Cup ticket scam
Douglas Knittle, the American President of US tour operator Prime Sports International, was charged on Friday in connection with a World Cup ticket scam. Knittle, 41, faces three counts of fraud, misrepresentation, and false reporting of a crime in relation to an investigation into the sale of phantom World Cup tickets.
