Two killed, 6 injured in Pakistan firing
Two teenagers were killed and six others, including an Army jawan and two girls, wounded in unprovoked firing and shelling by Pakistani troops which continued for the sixth continuous day yesterday in Jammu and Kashmir. Fourteen residential houses also suffered extensive damages in the Pakistani shelling and firing.

Plans for FDI in Housing finalised
The Union Urban Development Ministry has finalised proposals to invite foreign direct investment (FDI) in the housing sector to give impetus to the weaker section housing programme. A bill to this effect will be placed for Cabinet approval in July.

Joshi for hike in college fees
Union human resource development minister Dr Murli Manohar Joshi has strongly advocated upward revision of tuition fees for universities and colleges to meet at least part of the cost of higher education. Joshi said that such a hike would be justified in view of a steep increase in the cost of various inputs and salaries of college and university teachers.
