AGARTALA, June 29: Controversy rocks publication of Tripura Public Service (TCS) and Tripura Police Service (TPS) results with all political parties in the state demanding dismissal of Tripura Public Service Commission chairman alleging ``large scale irregularities to favour relatives of ruling Left Front''.The Congress, Bharatiya Janata Party, Tripura Upa Jatiya Sabha have protested against the alleged inclusion of names of relatives of some CPI-M ministers in the list announced here by TPSC recently.
TPCC president Gopal Roy has asked Chief Minister Manik Sarkar to hold an inquiry into the allegations against TPSC by an independent agency. ``The result reveals nepotism, irregularities, corruptions at the behest of political pressure,'' Roy said in a statement, adding that his party condemned the attempts to accommodate the nearest relatives of political high-ups.
Senior tribal leader and chairman of TUJS advisory council Shyama Charan Tripura, MLA has demanded in a letter to Governor SiddheswarPrasad the immediate removal of TPSC chairman for ``violating rules, regulations, custom and convention'' while selecting candidates and to cancel the list.
The TPSC recently published roll numbers of 77 successful candidates for TCS and TPS without names while it had so long, like UPSC, put up names along with roll numbers.
Senior IAS officer GSG Ayenger, who was in the interview board from the state government side, has objected to the use of grading system and using pencil in the marking list. He had also opposed to the procedure of allotting 20 per cent of the marks by the interview board.
Ayenger, sources said, dissociated himself from the interview board mid-way expressing displeasure over the procedure adopted and informed Chief Secretary V Tulsidas about it.
The TPSC had issued its advertisement for TPS and TCS last year after six years and a written test was conducted in September. No statement has yet been made by the TPSC on the charges levelled against the chairman, who has also drawn flakfrom the local press.
Several unsuccessful candidates have said a Supreme Court judgement had said marks allotted for viva voce examinations should not exceed ten per cent of the total marks allotted.
Ratan Lal Nath, MLA and TPCC general secretary has in a letter asked the chief minister to keep the list in abeyance till he was himself satisfied about the doubts raised.
