Shastri Club triumph
Former league champions Shastri Club and Shahdara Club and last year's champions City Club scored victories in group A and B in the DSA-SAIL Senior Division football league at Ambedkar Stadium.

Shastri prevailed over Collegians 1-0, the all-important goal coming from Mohd Atiq off a pass from Dinesh Thakur in the fifth minute. Atiq, however, was given marching orders by referee Julius Ceaser following serious infringment on Collegians' custodian Ashok Naagar, who received 13 stiches on his forehead. Shahdara Club defeated Delhi Students 1-0, striker Prem Jamnal scoring in the seventh minute.

Cty Club beat Frontier 4-0. Shyam Kumar (2) and Nageshwar rao (2) were the goal-getters. In other matches, Royal Rangers upset Indian Air Force (New Delhi) 1-0 and Simla Youngs registered a 1-0 win over Delhi Police.

Kamaal slams ton
There were four centuries in the two matches in DDCA league. Dharmendra and Rasid Kamaal hit centuries for Ajmal Khan Club who beat Delhi Gymkhana by 47 runs at Kotla 1.

Manjeet Singh struck 100 for the losers. In another match at Kotla 2, Shankar scored an unbeaten 113 for Young Association who beat Century by 68 runs.

Brief Scores: Ajmal Khan: 253 for 2 (Dharmendra 103, Rasid Kamaal 101) beat Delhi Gymkhana: 206 for 8 (Manjeet Singh 100, Ajay Yadav 3 for 20).

Young Association: 318 for 3 (Himanshu 65, Deepak Jain 92, Shankar 113 not out) beat Century: 250.

Shekhar shines
Shekhar's all-round display (56 and 4 for 13) helped Bitto Sports beat Chandrawal XI by 50 runs to enter the semifinals of the inaugural R K Memorial tournament.

Brief Scores: Bitto Sports: 180 for 5 (Pardeep 68, Shekhar 56, Pankaj Jain 36, Rajesh 3 for 42) beat Chandrawal XI: 130 (Soni 60, Rajesh 36, Shekhar 4 for 13, Pankaj Jain 3 for 23).

DDA XI, Customs win
DDA XI knock-out Tribal Heroes 4-0 while Delhi Customs and Excise struggled to notch a 2-1 win over Brothers Club in the inaugural DDA prize money invitational hockey championship at Major Dhyan Chand Sports Complex, Ashok Vihar.

Gyan Bharati triumph
Gyan Bharati (u-13) defeated Ludlow Castle by 13 runs at Gyan Bharati School.

Brief Scores: Gyan Bharati: 146 (Manav Sharma 35, Ankur Jhulka 37, Amit Chaudhary 3 for 29, Raman 2 for 28, Vinay 2 for 13) beat Ludlow Castle: 133 (Raman Chaudhary 30, P Mann 26, Manav Sharma 2 for 30, Manav Madan 2 for 15).

Pradeep Jain excels
Haryana Ranji left-arm spinner Pradeep Jain (5 for 24) bowled Oil and Natural Gas Corporation to a 19-run victory over Apex XI (Lucknow) to enter the semifinal of Sir Syed Ahmed memorial tournament at Aligarh. Jain was declared the man of the match. ONGC will next take on Collage Group.

Brief Scores: ONGC: 177 for 5 (Rizwan Shamshad 47, Radhey Shyam Gupta 38, Ravi Sehgal 37 not out, Satish Suri 2 for 27, Sandeep Malik 2 for 47) beat Apex XI: 158 (Sajjad Bari 23, Rakesh Joshi 37, Pradeep Jain 5 for 24, Deepak Sharma 2 for 39, Ajay Parihar 2 for 19).
