More than 120 people who were displaced from the Vadodara Railway Station Road as their constructions violated road alignment norms have demanded alternative VMC sites in an open letter to Mayor Ratilal Desai and Municipal Commissioner G R Aloria, comparing their position with the Nava Bazaar shopkeepers who have been accommodated elsewhere.

VMC notices
The Corporation on Monday issued notices to 25 buildings and commercial complexes violating road margin norms in Nizampura. They have been given a week to demolish the offending constructions voluntarily. The VMC also issued notices to two high-rise buildings in Wadi for non-compliance with fire safety norms.

Hunger strike
The hunger strike of retrenched workers of the Operation Research Group Systems company entered its third day on Monday. They are protesting against the company's non-compliance with the orders for their reinstatement.

Clashes rapped
The Vadodara Shanti Abhiyan activists Jagdish Shah and J S Bandukwala have taken strong exception to the ``communalisation'' of the clashes in Bardoli town and has appealed to religious organisations not to interpret a relationship as a communal conspiracy.
