Dist panchayat camps to make transfers system transparent

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
VADODARA, June 29: The Vadodara District Panchayat will organise five camps at taluka headquarters beginning July 2 to make the transfer system of primary school teachers more transparent. The first camp will be held in Bodeli.

District Development Officer (DDO) Anju Sharma told Express Newsline on Monday that teachers of the panchayat-run schools would attend the camps and the transfers would be decided on the basis of seniority. The number of years put in by teachers in particular schools will also be considered.

Representative of the DDO, the District Primary Education Officer, the Education Committee chairman and leaders of educational unions will be among those who will attend the camps.

The camps would be organised under the instructions of the state government and internal transfers would be effected on the basis of a computerised list, Sharma said, adding that more than 800 transfer applications were pending for the last few years.

She said the posts falling vacant due to internal transfers would be filled by 831 teachers to be recruited on a contract basis under the state government's Vidya Sahay Yojna. A modified version of the Bal Guru Yojna, minimum qualification for a job is a Secondary School Certificate and a diploma in Primary Teacher's Course.

While July 8 is the last date for accepting the forms, the Panchayat on on the first day of accepting forms, today, received nearly 200 applications.

Meanwhile, in a bid to help the applicants, two Panchayat officers would be available at the form accepting counters to attest certificates.
