Businessman fired at near Bhuleshwar

Express News Service
MUMBAI, July 2: A businessman, Sushil Kumar Parekh, was seriously injured when two unknown persons opened fire at him near Bhuleshwar at around 7:45 pm today.

According to the police, 32-year-old Parekh had left his office at Lower Chambers, Bajaj Bhavan, Vithalwadi, and was on his way home, when the assailants fired two rounds, injuring Parekh in the head and chest, and attempted to escape.

But the two were chased and nabbed by members of the public. One of the assailants has been identified as Santosh Vishawa.

Parekh was rushed to G T Hospital, and his condition is said to be critical.

The Lokmanya Tilak Marg police are investigating the case. The police refused to reveal as to which gang the shooters belonged to, saying it could hamper investigations. A senior officer, though, said that the modus operandi indicated the involvement of an organised underworld group.
