Novotna nails Hingis to meet Tauziat in Wimbledon title clash
Jana Novotna upset defending champion Martina Hingis 6-4 6-4 on Wednesday to reach her third Wimbledon women's singles final. The third-seeded Czech will meet France's 16th seed Nathalie Tauziat in Saturday's final.

Fifth draw for Anand
World No 2 Viswanathan Anand of India was held to his fifth straight draw, by Alexandr Beliavski, while Vladimir Kramnik joined Peter Leko in the lead after the fifth round of the Sparkassen Chess Meeting 1998. Anand (2.5), officially installed the world No 2 with an Elo rating of 2795 -- just adrift of the 2800 mark -- and 20 points behind Russia's world No 1 Garry Kasparov (2815), failed to drive home the psychological boost.

Kirsten and Kallis in double century stand
A double century stand between Gary Kirsten and Jacques Kallis put South Africa in charge of the third Test against England at Old Trafford. The touring team ended the first day on 237 for one.
