CM's visit has PMC on edge
EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
PUNE, July 3: Chief Minister Manohar Joshi's scheduled visit tomorrow morning to a plot of land at Shivajinagar Gaothan, adjacent to the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) building, has created a flutter in the civic corridors.Following the announcement of the chief ministers schedule, top civic officers rushed to inspect the plot this evening. This became the talking point among the elected representatives at the PMC as they failed to understand the purpose behind the chief minister's proposed visit. The plot has been reserved for a municipal garden in the Development Plan of Pune, 1987. In April 1993, the administration had tabled a proposal to change the reservation of the plot for parking purposes. The civic general body had approved the proposal which was forwarded to the State Urban Development Department for ratification. Copyright © 1998 Indian Express Newspapers (Bombay) Ltd.
