Dinner meet fails to satisfy Vokkaliga MLAs
EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
BANGALORE, July 4: At least a dozen Vokkaliga legislators led by former MP HD KUmaraswamy, are set to leave for Delhi to meet HD Deve Gowda on his arrival from the US on July 7, to rally support for their demands including a change of leadership or a greater representation in the ministry. The decision to do so was taken following the dinner meeting at Mandya MP Ambareesh's house recently when efforts to unite the Vokkaliga MLAs and get them to support the JH Patel-led government failed. Though the meeting is said to have had the blessings of the former prime minister himself, and was attended among others by the five senior Vokkaliga leaders supporting JH Patel, besides state party president BL Shankar, a section of legislators led by Kumaraswamy could not to be persuaded. These include a some ministers in the Patel government. Copyright © 1998 Indian Express Newspapers (Bombay) Ltd.
