VADODARA, July 5: Petronet LNG Limited, the joint venture company developing facilities for the import and utilisation of liquefied natural gas (LNG) in the country, is aiming to commission its LNG terminals at Dahej and Cochin by mid 2002.Petronet Director (Commercial) R P Sharma told reporters today that the company had identified consumers for five MMPTA of LNG in Gujarat and 2.5 MMPTA in Kerala and was finalising a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the identified consumers for supply of 20 MMSCMD of gas from Dahej and 10 MMSCMD from Cochin.
``The company has shortlisted seven from 17 commercial offers for the supply of LNG and plans to identify the suppliers by July-end to frame the Head of Agreement by the year-end for the financial closure of the project,'' Sharma said, adding the company was also shortlisting the EPC contractor who would be provided with the EPC document for submission.
``The document with qualifying criteria is being framed in consultation with the company's strategic partner Gaz De France (GDF) and the short-listing will be notified in the coming week'', he said.
Sharma claimed that having regassification facilities on ship and construction of single point mooring (SPM) system could reduce the supply period by two years. He said various studies, including the techno-economic feasibility study regarding the same at Dahej and Cochin were likely to be available by September.
