Simla Youngs win

NEW DELHI, July 9: Simla Youngs, Shastri F.C. and Hindustan registered victories in group A matches of the Delhi Soccer Association (DSA) -- SAIL Senior Division Football League championship at Ambedkar Stadium and Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium warm-up grounds, respectively here today.At the Ambedkar Stadium, Simla Youngs defeated Delhi Students 1-0 to earn full points.

The all-important goal for winners was scored by Sujay John in the sixth minute of the initial proceedings of the game. During the rest of the game, both teams were concerned in a listless game and no serious attempts were initiated by either side. Simla Youngs have collected eight points in four matches while Delhi Students drew blank after four matches.

Later on, in another match, Shastri Club outclassed Goans Sports Club while defeating them 3-0. Mohd. Atiq put his side ahead in the 10th minute while Mohd. Khalid increased it in 29th minute.

Of changing ends, Samar Farooq Khan completed the tally in the 55th minute. Formidable Hindustan Club defeated Delhi Police 3-1 at the Nehru Stadium. At the interval, both teams were levelled 1-1. Hindustan's outside-left Jitender Rawat put his side ahead in the fifth minute while Delhi Police's Vinod Negi equalised in the 48th minute while Mohd. Farooq completed the tally in the 59th minute.

Delhi Police's Balvinder was given marching orders by Referee Naresh Kapoor for serious infringement. Indian Air Force (New Delhi) and Shahdara Club played a goalless draw to share points. Airmen P. Darshan and Shahdara's Kamal missed easy changes. Air Force have points in five games. Shahdara have eight points in four games.
