The spiritual leader of the Bochanswami Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan Sanstha, was successfully operated upon for bypass at Lenox Hill hospital, Manhattan, New York recently. The operation was performed by Dr Subramanium and his team.

Guru Purnima celebrated

The Gurudev Siddha Peeth organised an abhishekha at Ganeshpuri in the Tansa valley on the occasion of Guru Purnima on July 9. A puja for the padukas of Gurumayi Chidvilasananda was also held. The Prasad Chikitsa, the peeth's charitable arm, serves 11 villages a special prasad bhojan five days a week as part of a scheme, instituted in November 1996.

IIA president appointed

R K Rajagopalan has been elected as President of the Indian Institute of Architects for the term 1998-2000. This institution, headquartered at Mumbai, is the only professional body for architects in the country.
