The Sun's advice on Charles' love-life
Britain's Prince Charles was urged by the country's biggest-selling tabloid daily, The Sun, to bring his relationship with Camilla Parker Bowles into the open. ``Show us you love her'' the newspaper trumpeted across its front page, a day after revealing that Charles' elder son Prince William, 16, the second in line to the British throne, had met Parker Bowles for the first time. ``The Sun has some friendly advice for Prince Charles about his love life. For goodness sake get on with it! Don't leave it too late to enjoy an open relationship with Camilla. Neither of you is getting any younger,'' it said in a front-page editorial. The meeting between William and Parker Bowles, held responsible by the prince's mother Princess Diana for the break-up of her marriage, renewed speculation that Charles may be trying to make acceptable a woman no-one in Britain wants anywhere near the throne.Charles, 49, has said he will never re-marry but clearly wants to be able to appear in public with Parker Bowles,50, if not at his side, at least only a few paces behind. Given the unshakeable popularity of Diana, he has been at pains until now to keep his mistress firmly hidden from public view. A recent poll showed that four out of five Britons would not accept her as queen should she marry Charles. The Sun told Charles it was time he put public opinion to the test by openly showing their emotions. ``They should hold hands. Even kiss. Then everyone will know their romance is real. How can we decide if we don't see you together?'' it wrote in a gushing editorial. Copyright © 1998 Indian Express Newspapers (Bombay) Ltd.
