NEW DELHI, July 10: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) have arrested three persons, including an upper division clerk in the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), for allegedly demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 3.19 lakh from nine persons last year after promising them employment in the ITBP and other central police organisations. CBI officials also carried out searches at the residences of the accused -- identified as Janaki Thakur, UDC at ITBP, an ITBP inspector Ashok Solanki and other person Pawan Kumar -- in different parts of the capital. A fourth accomplice C.P. Kashyap is reportedly absconding. The raids were carried out in the residences of the accused in Gole Market, Moti Nagar and Ram Nagar areas of the city. A city court remanded Thakur to judicial custody till July 14, while the other two were remanded for 14 days. A CBI official said that scrutiny of the documents, including large number of educational certificates and mark sheets of different persons, recovered from the accused showed that ``they had financial transactions with several persons and had promised to get them jobs in the ITBP and other central police organisations.'' Of the Rs 3.19 lakh allegedly demanded and accepted by the accused, Rs two lakh were taken through demand drafts prepared in the name of two other persons also found to be involved in the racket, the official added. The arrests followed a complaint by a resident of Basti in Uttar Pradesh who had said that the accused demanded money for his recruitment as well as that of his brother and seven others as constables and head constables.
