DEMANDS
Small scale industry grateful to City MP
The president of Federation of Small Scale Industries, Yash Pal Mahajan has thanked local MP Satya Pal Jain for arranging a meeting between Union Minister for Power and officials of Chandigarh Administration to find out permanent solution to the power problems in the Union Territory. FSSI general secretary Rajeev Gupta has thanked Union Power Minister Kumara Mangalam for accepting one major demand of making Chandigarh a partner of Bhakra Beas Management Board and adequate participation in Parvati Kolden Chamera-II project.

Deep Comlex residents' problems
The Deep Complex Welfare Association has decided to bring the problems being faced by the residents of complex to the notice of local MP Satya Pal Jain. In a meeting held here today, the Association has demanded scrapping up of Land Acquisition, extension of Lal Dora, withdrawal of notices issued by the Chandigarh Administration for the alleged violation of Punjab New Capital (Periphery) Control Act, 1952.

Ex-servicemen flay Central Govt
The city unit of Indian Ex-Services League, at its meeting held here today, has criticised the Central Government for its failure to sort out problems of ex-servicemen and their widows. Speakers at the meeting also criticised the delay in implementing the recommendations of 5th Central Pay Committee report. The league has also demanded lateral induction of personnel who are thrown out of the job at a very early age, besides demanding creation of monitoring cell in each state to monitor the vacancies reserved for ex-servicemen.

CONDOLENCE
Death of renowned astroleger mourned
The local unit of International Sidhaashram Sadhak Parivaar has condoled the death of its founder Dr Narayan Dutt Shrimali, a reputed academician and a astrologer, who has written over 300 books on various topics. Shrimali had died at Mumbai and his followers in large numbers are gathering at Jodhpur on July 15 to pay homage to him. Shrimali has been conferred various titles, which include the "Samaaj Shiromani" and "Jyotish Mahamahopadhyaya" among others. He had also presided over the World Astrological Conference in Delhi in 1995.
