  • Leading scorer Davor Suker of Croatia grabbed his six goals from a mere 11 shots on target while Italy's Christian Vieri and Argentina's Gabriel Batistuta both scored five times from 12 shots on target. Suker was also off-side more than any other player, being blown up 16 times in seven games. Vieri was caught off-side 14 times in his five matches.

  • France finished as the best team scoring record with 15 goals from 83 attempts on target while Brazil's 14 came from 47 shots or headers on target.

  • France also had the best defensive record, conceding just two goals in seven games, compared to Paraguay's two in four games. However, Fabien Barthez had to make only 15 saves compared with Paraguay's Jose Luis Chilavert's 22 stops.

  • Holland's Edgar Davids committed more fouls than any other player -- 24 in six matches. Next was Iran's Ali Daei with 20 in three matches, followed by Chile's Nelson Vivas with 18 in four games. England's Alan Shearer committed as many fouls as Jaap Stam -- 16 --although the Dutch defender played three more games.

  • Croatia, France and Holland, with 126 fouls each, conceded the most free-kicks while Brazil (123), France (120) and Croatia (108) won the most free-kicks.

  • France and Cameroon both had three players sent off, although Cameroon's average was one a game, while France picked up 13 yellow cards to Cameroon's six. Croatia were booked most -19 yellow cards.

  • Ariel Ortega of Argentina won the most free-kicks -- 33 in five games. Rivaldo, fouled 24 times in seven matches. Then came Shearer, 21 in four matches, and Ronaldo, 20 in seven matches.
