VADODARA, July 13: The Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) on Monday shifted 29 handcarts from near the Kirti Stambh and Narhari Hospital to facilitate smooth flow of vehicular traffic.Deputy Municipal Commissioner (Administration) H S Patel said the handcarts near the Kirti Stambh were shifted to the road leading to Polo Ground from the Nehru Bhavan and the ones near the Narhari Hospital to the road leading to Rosary School from Bank of Baroda.
The handcarts which were shifted had licenses. Some of them had also stay orders in their favour.
Patel said the handcarts were shifted following requests by Police Commissioner Kuldip Sharma. The eatable joints run from the handcarts near Kirti Stambh, a rural bus depot, had been posing problem for the bus drivers to park buses, the DyMC added.
On Sunday, unauthorised handcarts were lifted from near the Bombay Shopping Centre on the R C Dutt Road.
Patel said the demolition operation of unauthorised structures in the parking slots and those falling in the margin area on the R C Dutt Road would continue. He, however, did not reveal further details of the operation as encroachers might get stay orders.
