Aksai Chin is ours, says China
There is no question of vacating Aksai Chin because the territory has been a part of China from ancient times and is under its effective administration, according to the Chinese ambassador to India Zhou Gang. He also accused India of making slanderous accusations which had sabotaged the atmosphere of Sino-Indian relations, harmed developing bilateral relations between China and India and endangered the future of relations between the two countries.

Ban Godse, advises Centre; but Thackeray has final say
The fate of the controversial play, Me Nathuram Godse Boltoi (I am Nathuram Godse Speaking), which has caused nationwide consternation and a furore in both Houses of Parliament, curiously enough rests with what can be best described as an extra-constitutional authority -- Shiv Sena chief Balasaheb Thackeray. While the Centre yesterday asked the Maharashtra government to prohibit staging of the play, state Chief Minister Manohar Joshi declared that he would abide by the advice of Thackeray on the issue.

Indigenous aircraft carrier gets nod
The Union ministry of defence (MoD), after delays of more than a decade, has given the go-ahead for the manufacture of an Air Defence Ship (AD Ship) at Cochin. The plan for an AD Ship was conceived in 1986 when India was looking for a second aircraft carrier.
