MUMBAI, July 24: Western Railway (WR) drubbed Dadar XI `B' 5-0 in a Gulf Lubricant WIFA Senior Division football match here at the Cooperage today.WR now have 14 points from seven matches while Dadar XI suffered the fourth defeat of the leg and have only nine points from same number of matches. Both will play their last match of the first leg against MS Police.Dadar suffered two blows when they lost two regular defenders, Rajesh Solanki and Dinesh Kanojia in the first quarter of the match. Kanojia suffered an ankle injury while Solanki had to leave the match after an emergency call from home.
Besides the loss of two players, the team did not play to their potential, adopting a casual approach to the game.
WR striker Kaushik Pal drew first blood in the 5th minute when he scored off a pass from Manoj Rawat. He added the second to the tally in the 38th minute when Nilesh Chavan, the Dadar XI goalkeeper failed to collect medio Sunil Mishra's low cross. Pal lunged on to the ball and tapped it in.
Rawatscored the third with a header in the 58th minute for WR. He played one-to-one with Inam-Ul-Haq and on a cross from Haq, placed the ball over the goalkeeper. Medio Jose Daya bulged the net from close range in the 69th minute to make it 4-0 in favour of WR.
Hard-working medio Sunil Mishra increased the tally to 5-0. He trapped a free-kick taken by Roshan Lal and sent Chavan on the wrong side with a body feign to place the ball to other side.
In a first Division match, Gulf Oil defeated Rebels SC 6-0. Jigar Fernandes, William Gomes, Denis Rajamanickan, Anmol Rai, Amar Pardesi and Harish Bhoir scored a goal apiece for the winners.
ONGC triumph
ONGC defeated All Parsees 2-1 in the MDFA-conducted Harwood Football League at the St Xavier's ground, Parel, today.
All Parsees played well with good combination but Fareez Vasania's powerful shot was neatly punched away by ONGC custodian Sandeep Sawant.
After this save, the ONGC forwards had many tries at the All Parsees goal but their culprit wasAldrin Lobo who muffed chances.
In the second-half, ONGC took the lead took in the 54th minute when Shaumik Maitra, after receiving a pass from Aldrin Lobo, beat All Parsees goalkeeper Farad Irani hands down.
Aldrin also had a hand in the second ONGC goal. His pass from the right flank was neatly converted by Brian D'Mello from close range.
All Parsees reduced the margin through Detzad Marzaban who made the most of a Fareez Vasania pass. Marzaban beat ONGC goalkeeper Sandeep Sawant with a stiff shot.
In Pool A of the Second Division, five goals incuding a hat-trick by Leroy Nunes helped Cafe Royal to beat Young Challenger 5-0.
Worli Sports Club defeated BPCL 3-0 in the Third Division. Assis Rrodrigues, Samson Alexander and Prashant Mishra scored a goal each.
