Police arrests two history-sheeters

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
VADODARA, July 28: The Padra police claims to have solved two theft cases by arresting two history-sheeters, wanted also in several similar cases in Mumbai and Calcutta.

According to the police, Raju alias Rajesh Mohan Kametia Chara and Chandrabhan Nanu Chara were caught while running away after snatching a purse containing ornaments worth Rs 2,625 and Rs 375 in cash from a jewellery shop belonging to Purushottam Chotabhai Prajapati on July 24.

Their accomplice, however, made a successful getaway. He is yet to be arrested.

The duo, during interrogation, confessed to robbing one Varshaben Rameshbhai Wajesinh Chauhan's house on May 6, 1998, of cash and gold ornaments worth Rs 2,500. The police found Rs 1,358 in their possession, which the duo said, had been stolen from Varshaben; the remaining money, they said, had been spent.

The police were on the lookout for the third person, a spokesman said.
