NAGPUR, AUGUST 3: It was fun all the way for Victor Luis Monteiro (VLM) of Goa when they routed the young and immature Nivia Club from Kota (Rajasthan) 5-0 in the KBL-Federation Cup West Zone Football Tournament match which was played under constant drizzle today. The Goan side gave ample time to the Rajasthan bunch to get their act together before they netted the first goal in the 28th minute and scored four more in the 32nd, 38th, 60th and 75th minutes.
The first goal came when Menino Fernandez took a corner kick. Nivia goalkeeper Tan Singh's grip ditched him. He collected it but the ball slipped off his gloves only to move into the net.
A minute later Elvis Coelho missed again. However, Sandrick Fernandez compensated for Elvis miss three minutes later. Fed from the mid-field, Sandrick pushed the ball very quickly. Goalkeeper Tan Singh raced out and touched the ball but failed to collect. Sandrick was close by to tap it in.
The third goal was an outcome of a penalty that was awarded to Goan side foran offence committed by Nivias Hitendra Jhala who brought Sukdev Arwade down in the goal area. Jhalas offence also invited a yellow card. Succor Silveira scored from the spot.
VLM scored two more goals in the second half. There could have been more goals had there been no rains after the breather. In fact Nivia goalie Tan Singh also had his share in stopping the VLM salvos. He was extra-charged in the post-breather session.
In the 60th minute Sandrick Fernandez bolted past the Rajasthan defence to pass to Riston Rodrigues. While Riston made no mistake, the Rajathan goalie committed a blunder that gave the Goans their fourth goal.
The final goal (75th minute) was a repeat of the fourth. The only difference was this time Joseph Quadros scored it.
