VADODARA, Aug 3: The police on Monday evening caught three members of an inter-state gang of highway robbers and recovered lethal firearms and ammunition from them.Briefing reporters at the Karelibaug police station on Monday night, Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) P K Valera said that a 12-bore country-made revolver with four live cartridges and a .32 bore firearm with five live cartridges had been seized from them. Both the guns were loaded, he added.
Acting on a tip-off, the police kept a watch at the Golden Chowkdi and tracked down the robbers on their way to Vadodara from Bharuch in a stolen jeep. Around 7 p.m., a police party led by Karelibaug PI J D Ramgadhia blocked the road and halted the jeep. Attempts by robbers to get away were foiled by a strong cordon.
The robbers have been identified as Manoj Parvesh Kumar Sharma, Yogesh alias Bhallu Umesh Chandra and Bunti alias Manoj Girdharilal, all residents of Dhaulana town in Hapur taluka of Ghaziabad district. All of them in their early twenties.
Valera said that the three had reached Bharuch on July 27 and stayed at the Shivani guest House there. Interrogations have begun.
