VADODARA, Aug 3: The three-hour meeting of the affiliation committee, set up to discuss whether M S University should affiliate colleges to itself, ended inconclusively on Monday. The committee has, instead, formed a sub-committee comprising Pro-Vice-Chancellor Dipak Kumar De, senior syndicate member Nikhil Desai and Dean of the faculty of Management studies Mayank Dholakia, among others. The matter will now remain shelved for another three months, only to be presented at the next Senate meeting after the sub-committee has reviewed the plans and proposals relating to affiliation.
The sub-committee will also consider the student strength per college and the strength of every classroom and draw parallels with universities -- including Gujarat University and the Bhavnagar University -- that already have affiliated colleges.
Talking about it to Express Newsline, committee member J B Rajput said, ``This issue has already been with the committee for quite sometime now but it has still not been able to arrive to any conclusion.''
Another member of the committee, Nilesh Shukla, who reportedly walked out of the meeting said, ``The committee has been formed to take decisions not only about the Faculty of Commerce but also the Faculties of Science and Arts.''
Shukla added that the committee would have to look into the infrastructure and finance that could be made available to the university, adding that since it was already a residential university, decision-making was difficult in comparison to other universities.
