NEW DELHI, August 3: A 32-year-old man allegedly strangled his wife and later committed suicide in Mayapuri area of south-west district. The bodies were found by the neighbours who informed the police control room staff early this morning.While 28-year-old Anita was found lying dead between a cooler and refrigerator with blood stains on her nose and mouth and strangulation marks on her neck, Atyender's body was found hanging with a bedsheet from a ceiling fan in the same room.
According to the police, the couple reportedly did not get along. They were married for the past seven years. Atyendra Kumar, who owns a photo studio in the area, returned home drunk every night which his wife resented. He was also facing financial problems as he was unable to get lucrative assignments.
The couple have left behind two children: two-and-half year old Neha and six-year-old Chintu. At the time of the incident, Chintu was in the same room while Neha was asleep. According to the statement given by Chintu, the couple fought again last night when Atyendra came home drunk. He beat her up and then strangled her with bare hands. Following this, he hung himself from the ceiling fan. Chintu then ran to his neighbours living on the first floor and reported the matter. Police have registered a case.
