First archery centre at Delhi school

NEW DELHI, August 5: An archery centre has been added to the numerous other training centres that are already in existence at the Hansraj Model School, Punjabi Bagh. The centre, which was formally inaugurated on Tuesday at the school premises will have SAI coach Ashim Kundu as the trainer. More than 20 boys have already enrolled themselves for training at the centre, Sports Director S S Kapoor informed.

To coincide with the launching of the new project, several outstanding sports persons of the school were honoured. Pratima Sayal, the current India No. 1 in sub-junior girls, received an award of Rs 5,100. The girls' table tennis team of Pratima Sayal, Apna Bhalla and Ritu Raman, which finished second in the National School Games and the boys team (Simranjit Singh Nanda, Abhishek Puri and Rajat Chopra) which earned the bronze medal were also honoured at the special function.

Besides, the roller skating team of the school (Gaurav Singh, Anirudh Devraj, Sachin Arora, Deepak Yadav, Madhur Chawla, Varun Chawla, Mukesh and Nitin) and athletes Sidharth Kumar and Vipul received special awards.
