Hegde begins meeting with top corporates
The Commerce Minister, Ramakrishna Hegde on Wednesday kicked off a series of meetings with the country's top business houses in a bid to increase their contribution to the country's exports. The Government is keen on offering incentives and ironing out specific problems of the top 20 corporate houses to step up their exports in key sectors.

HC nod for Quattrocchi's arrest
Decks were cleared for the arrest of Italian businessman Ottavio Quattrocchi with the Delhi High Court on Thursday rejecting his plea for quashing an arrest warrant issued against. A Division Bench upheld the arrest warrant issued against Quattrocchi by the trial court.

Farooq holds talks with Vajpayee, Advani
Having arrived in New Delhi after a two-week holiday in London Jammu & Kashmir CM Farooq Abdullah straightaway got into the act of familiarising himself with the new "ground situation" in his troubled State. For the better part of the day, Farooq made himself busy by meeting top Central leaders, including Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee, LK Advani and George Fernandes.

Pak terms LoC situation as `precarious,' wants to talk
Pakistan has termed the situation along the Line of Control (LoC) as "precarious carrying the risk of escalating in unchartered direction". "We believe there is urgent need for discussion on nuclear and conventional restraint and stabilisation and avoidance of conflict," foreign ministry spokesman Tariq Altaf said.
