Saplings planted on campus

CHANDIGARH, Aug 6: As many as 2,500 students of Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 35-D today took out a rally carrying placards, banners and posters, highlighting messages about the importance of trees in our lives, on the occasion of the tree plantation programme organised by the school.

The rally in which students, staff and executive members of PTA took part was flagged off by M.K Virmani, president of the school PTA. An inter-house competition was also organised in respect of overall display and discipline.

Neelgiri house bagged the first prize, second prize went to Himgiri house and the third prize was jointly shared by Udaigiri and Taragiri houses. Later, about 200 saplings were planted at a tree plantation function organised by the school in collaboration with SBI, Sector 7.

The plants which were planted on the campus include medicinal, shady and ornamental ones. The tree plantation drive was led by K.S Talwar, Chief Manager, SBI, Sector 7. Students of the school presented a cultural programme.
