BHOPAL, Aug 12: The Madhya Pradesh Police have arrested three notorious criminals, hailing from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh, allegedly engaged in supplying illegal arms to anti-nationals, mafias and other criminal outfits.Stating this here today, a release said following the arrest of the three from Gwalior, police have almost completed its investigations into the illegal sale and purchase of arms there.
Police had till now arrested 15 persons in connection with the illegal sale and purchase of arms and they included three arms dealers of Gwalior.
Of the 80 rifles and 70,000 live cartridges sold illegally in Gwalior, the police had so far seized 21 rifles and scores of cartridges, the release said.
Director-General of Police V P Singh had recommended to the State Government to ask for a CBI probe into the sale and purchase of arms.
A joint team of CID and district police force of Gwalior was also set up to investigate the matter.
The three arrested were Kanhaiya Lal Sharma, Badal Sharma (both ofBihar) and S Kumar (from Uttar Pradesh), the release said.
