Dubai, Aug 12: It was for the cricket board to decide whether the full-strength Indian team will play in Sahara Cup or the Commonwealth Games, the players had no problems playing in either, captain Mohammed Azharuddin said.``It is upto the Board to decide it and the players will abide by the Board's decision,'' Azharuddin told reporters here last night.
Azharuddin, who is leading the side in a three-match India-Pakistan exhibition series in the Gulf, said playing in the series will not affect team performance in any way.
``We have free time now and we want to do our own thing. We can also decide these things for ourselves,'' Azharuddin told a press conference, adding that commercially it would be beneficial for all.
Three matches between Azhar's XI and Rashid Latif's XI are to be played in Dubai (August 14), Doha (August 15) and Qatar (August 17). As the stadium there was not available, one match, scheduled to be played in Muscat, was shifted to Doha.
He said the matches had the sanction of thecricket boards of both countries. ``There should be more matches of this kind.''
Azharuddin said he was lucky that he could notch up more wins as captain of the Indian team in his second stint at the helm. ``As long the Indian team wins, I am lucky,'' he said.
Latif said the matches will coincide with Independence Day celebrations of both Pakistan and India and ``it is good for both countries to play these goodwill matches.''
