Revenge killings of ULFA militants' kin rock Assam
Now it is time for Punjab-type retaliatory killings in Assam. With the situation in the state fast deteriorating, unidentified assailants night shot down as many as six close relatives of three top ULFA (United Liberation Front of Assam) leaders, which included an elder brother of the outfit's chairman Arabinda Rajkhowa, on Tuesday night.
No threat of war with Pakistan - Army
Contrary to media reports from Pakistan, there are no war clouds over the horizon, the Army Headquarters officials in New Delhi have said. Since Islamabad began the artillery barrage on July 28, and the subsequent Indian response on July 30, there has been extensive loss of life on both sides of the Line of Control (LoC), with Pakistan suffering extensively, said the officials.
Chennai parched as Krishna leaks
While the Cauvery waters issue threatens to divide the nation, the waters of Krishan are going waste in Chennai. As several residents of Chennai scramble for a potful of water, nearly half the quantum of Krishna water released from Andhra Pradesh to quench the parched Chennai, is going waste every day.
