MP to exempt Scheduled Tribes from stamp fee

BHOPAL, August 14: Madhya Pradesh Cabinet has decided to exempt Scheduled Tribe persons from paying stamp fee for transfer of agriculture land to their successors during their life time. At present documents executed for transfer of land to its successors during life time of the owner are in the form of sale deed, donation deed, settlement deed and partnership deed.In urban areas, stamp fee is on sale and donation deed is paid at the rate of 9.87 per cent while it is 8.87 per cent in rural areas. On settlement deeds, stamp fee is four per cent of the market rate and on partition deed it is four per cent of 60 times of the land revenue. Copyright © 1998 Indian Express Newspapers (Bombay) Ltd.
