HYDERABAD, AUG 16: Bespectacled Nitin Mongia of Naval Sailing Club, Mumbai with a least 11 penalty points won the glittering Laser Class Association of India trophy plus a cash prize of Rs 5,000 in the BPL Laser International Open Regatta Championship which concluded at the Hussain Sagar Lake this evening.With the win Mongia not only retained the national title, but also booked a seat to take part in the World Laser Regatta Chempionship to be held at Australia in January next.
Rajesh Choudary of EME SA, with seven penalty points, won the Laser Radial Class event title and thus became the first sailor to win the national title (radial class) for the third time in-a-row.
Purshotham Sharma of EME SA with seven penalty points not only won the OK Dinghy national title, but also retained his crown pipping local favourite Anirudh Vijaykumar of Secunderabad Sailing Club to the second spot.
In the Enterprise it was a cakewalk for Mumbai's sailing club pair of Dilip Kumar Acharya and Jitendra Rami as his crewto win the national title with six points.
Teenager Varun Prabhakar of Royal Madras Yatching Club, Chennai with nine penalty points won his maiden national Optimist title.
