BEED, August 16: The rebels within the Shiv Sena may have finally put together a strategy to go ahead with their war against the party. For, in their biggest show of strength since they were dropped from the State Cabinet Ganesh Naik, Suresh Navle and Gulabrao Gawande chose Deputy Chief Minister Gopinath Munde's hometown Beed to call Joshi all sorts of names. And significantly, the impressive rally in this small town was actively supported by BJP sympathisers, especially those from Bhagawan Sena, leading observers to wonder whether this was an indicator of some realignment of political forces in the future.Interestingly, though Suresh Navale seemed to be critical of every single decision of the State Government had ever taken, he was full praise for Munde. ``He pacified me for over an hour when I told him of my decision to quit the ministry. That's the qualitative difference between the Chief Minister and the Deputy Chief Minister,'' Navale said.
All the three former ministers appeared to have a commonagenda to attack the Chief Minister but it was Navle who took it upon himself to fire the salvos in his 40 minutes of fiery speech at the Champawati Stadium here where nearly 12000 people turned up to hear the trio. Gulabrao Gawande, who arrived late could not make it to the stage but was however present at the joint press conference addressed by the three. He expressed his full support to what the other two former minister had said but was more of a listener.Navale said the State Cabinet functioned more like a Mumbai Municipal Corporation. Who are the people who have say in the Cabinet? It is only the Pramod Navalkars and Sudhir Joshis (Mumbaiites) who count in the eyes of the Chief Minister, he said.
The angry young man sounded a warning. ``The Shiv Sena Govt is gulping down the whole state of Maharashtra like a demon would devour his foes,'' he said adding that the state of affairs in the Maharashtra were worse than in Laloo's Bihar. ``Have you ever heard of a Minister being attacked in his officialbungalow in Bihar,'' he questioned.
Until yesterday, Navale, had shied away from giving any indication of the public turn at the public meeting which was organised to launch his newly floated social forum, Janashakti. However, after arriving at the venue like many of his own close supporters he too was overwhelmed by the attendance. Nawale, clearly spoke like a man possessed even as the crowd cheered him all through his speech beating drums and shouting slogans like Shiv Sena murdabad.''
Navale began by recalling the day, 20th July, when the Chief Minister dropped him from the cabinet. ``It (the attack on his bungalow) was horrifying experience. They were shouting sarkar padtay kay, (``How dare you try to pull down the Govt). ``Who was I to do that,'' Navale asked and added that it was he who had tendered the resignation from the ministry. The Chief Minister had no reason to announce in the State Assembly that he had dismissed me, thundered Navale, explaining the drama behind his ouster to his homecrowd.
He went on to shower expletive after expletive over the chief minister. ``He is a liar. A liar of the first order. If liars were to hold a world convention I am sure it would be Manohar Joshi whom they will elect as their president, the former energy minister said.
Accusing the Chief Minister of sidelining Minister, Navale, said he (Joshi) assumed the role of Dronacharya. ``He demands the offer of one of your thumbs, like Dronacharaya did from Ekalayva.'' Compared to Navale, Naik weighed ever word before he spoke. ``I agree with whatever Navale said in his speech,'' he quipped.
Talking of the future plans, Naik said they would take things as they come. ``Be assured that we are not quitting politics. We will very much remain practicing politicians, only now we want to concentrate more on social work through our newly formed forum (that of Lok Shakti and Janshakti). As far our association with the Shiv Sena, we may be technically still members of that party but mentally we are now far away fromanything that the party stands for,'' Naik said.
