CHANDIGARH, Aug 16: The Punjab Government has constituted a high powered committee to review the functioning of the office of the advocate general, Punjab.The committee had been formed after the Punjab cabinet expressed its displeasure in writing during the last two meetings, it is reliably learnt. Two cabinet ministers, Madan Mohan Mittal and Maheshinder Singh Grewal besides Chief Secretary R S Mann, Home Secretary G P S Sahi and the Advocate General G S Grewal had been nominated as the members of the committee.
It is learnt that the Punjab cabinet was not happy with the manner in which the state cases were being represented by the government lawyers at the High Court. It was felt that merit was ignored while appointing and promoting advocates working in the AG office.
