Two gangs of vehicle lifters busted

FATEHGSARH SAHIB, Aug 16: During a special drive launched against the anti-social elements, the district police have arrested two gangs allegedly involved in vehicle lifting and some other crimes.Addressing a press conference at Sirhind, near here, today, SSP Paramraj Singh Dhaliwal disclosed that during a naka set up yesterday at Ambe Majra village, the police nabbed Pardeep Kumar and Ratesh Kumar alias Jugnu, both residents of Gobindgarh, and recovered a car from them which had been stolen from Gobindgarh on the same day. The SSP said that the duo had also looted Rs 1,050 after assaulting and injuring a man at Kotla Bajwara village last month.Singh said that the police had succeeded in arresting all the members of another gang; Avtar Singh of Sandhari Majra village, Jasbir Singh of Amrala village and Sukhpal Singh of Todarpur village, allegedly involved in the incidents of scooter lifting yesterday at a naka set up at Manupur sub-canal bridge. This gang is believed to be involved in looting Rs 5,000 after injuring one Jagdish Chand. He said that three scooters had been recovered from them Singh said that five bags of poppy husk and an Ambassador car had been recovered from one Ranjit Singh alias Kala at bus stop at Jakhwali village. One bag of poppy husk had been recovered from one Sher Singh of Barahman Majra village in Sirind and another bag of poppy husk had been recovered from Karnail Singh of Jalla village, the SSP added.
