NEW DELHI, August 16: There were goals galore in the Delhi Hockey Association-conducted league for clubs at Shivaji Stadium here on Sunday.Punjab Olympians came back from a goal down to beat Khalsa White 9-2. Similarly, Academy Club trailed by a goal against MBS XI before recovering to defeat them 9-3. In the third match of the day, Chota Nagpur beat Punjab Hawks 3-0 after leading 1-0 at the interval.
Khalsa White surprisingly took the lead against Punjab Olympians when Gaurav Sharma scored in the 12th minute. However, Ritesh found the equaliser three minutes later.
Vineet (3 goals in the 45th, 48th and 58th minutes), Rohit Saini (17th minute), Ritesh (26th), Manmohan (32nd), Ashish (40th), Anil Kumar (51st) were the other goal scorers for the winners.
Nishant Sharma (42nd) reduced the margin for the losers.
In the Academy Club-MBS XI match, Devinder Singh gave MBS XI the lead in the 10th minute. Sanjeet equalised in the 15th minute. Sanjeet also scored the team's second goal in the 17th minute. Baljeet scored three goals for the winners as they took a strong grip over the game. Other scorers for the Academy Club were Ajay, Raju, Sonu and Suneet. Rajinder and Santokh Singh reduced the margin for MBS XI.
The fourth match of the day, scheduled between Swami Anand Muni XI and Sonnet could not be played as the former failed to turn up.
