SURAT, Aug 17: Deputy Information Director Hemantkumar Harikrishna Sur, heading the Surat district information department, died today at 6 am after a prolonged illness. He was 56 and is survived by his wife and three daughters.Sur began his government service in the information department in 1961 as a clerk. He served the department in various capacities for the next three-and-a-half decades in the district information departments of Dangs, Valsad, Surat and Bharuch, besides the Gandhinagar information department.
Sur worked actively for the promotion of cultural, educational and other activities in the region. His family members, friends and a number of employees of the information department, among others attended his funeral procession, taken out in the evening.
