DEOLI, Aug 18: Coal City Finance and Aasara Associates owned by Prakash Thombre which did a roaring business in Chandrapur and Gadchiroli districts in the recent past, allegedly duped unemployed and petty shopkeepers in the tehsil to the tune of lakhs of rupees.It is also alleged that the policemen are playing the role of silent spectators while the persons linked with these companies are moving freely. According to information, Thombare opened a joint office of the aforesaid companies at the Bade square at Wardha. He appointed his relative Prakash Bhende as the office manager. Bhende, in turn, appointed `brokers' for giving publicity to the office in rural areas.
The `brokers' reportedly lured the people saying that the company would give loans to them for purchasing vehicles within a month provided they deposit 25 per cent of the cost of the vehicle through them.It is learnt that several small traders and unemployed youths were duped to the tune of Rs 50 lakh by the two companies.
