NEW DELHI, August 18: The bail application of Prem Singh `Fauji' -- the 45-year-old ex-serviceman who was arrested for the murder of five youth -- was today rejected by Additional Sessions Judge A.K. Garg.Fauji -- a retired Army jawan and father of five -- a Mukherjee Nagar property dealer and Raju were arrested on April 30 for the murder of five youth (including three Delhi University students). Subsequently, it was revealed that Fauji suspected that the five youth were involved at different times with his mistress Sunita.
Fauji brought Sunita from Baghpat to Delhi about nine years ago, and she lived in the same house as his wife and children. Things started falling apart when Sunita started meeting other men and was allegedly having affairs with Fauji's other tenants.
Sunita disappeared from Delhi on February 13. She had eloped with former DU student Abhay Jha, and subsequently married him. The couple ran off to Dhanbad in Bihar.
An enraged Fauji got hold of Abhay's friend Ajay Jha, and stripped, tonsured and strangled him to death. He had earlier killed two youth who had come to visit Sunita, by first lacing their liquor with sleeping pills and then strangling them. The ex-serviceman also allegedly killed Abhay's two brothers, Aditya and August.
There was a final twist to the murky tale. Abhay and Sunita apparently fell out and she finally committed suicide. Abhay is in Dhanbad jail for abetting Sunita's suicide.
