MUMBAI, August 20: The District Planning and Development Corporation (DPDC) today sanctioned Rs 48.6 crore for various development works in Mumbai during 1999-2000.At a meeting, the corporation discussed the status of about 72 projects for the city and decided to provide Rs 6.1 crore to government hospitals including J J , St. George, G T, Cama and Albes hospitals. For the renovation of crematoria, about Rs 2.5 crore have been sanctioned. About Rs 3 crore will be provided to develop and beautify specific spots in the city while Rs 1.3 crore will be given for development of government colleges.
Cleaning of public latrines, gutters, roads and enhancing of water supply will together get an allocation of Rs 6 crore. The meeting was chaired by guardian minister for Mumbai Sudhir Joshi. Others who attended include Higher and Technical Education Minister Datta Rane, RPI MP Ramdas Athavale, MLAs from Mumbai, corporators and others.
