PANAJI, AUGUST 20: The Goa BJP unit has decided not to join the Wilfred Desouza government in Goa but to extend ``unconditional'' support to it.Briefing mediapersons here today, the leader of the party's legislative wing, Sripad Naik, said one of the reasons for not joining the government was, it was not in favour of a ``jumbo'' sized ministry. ``The decision was taken at the BJP office bearers' meeting yesterday,'' he said.
The Goa Rajiv Congress Party (GRCP) and Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) are the coalition partners of the government headed by De Souza. Earlier, the decision to join the government had been left to the party's parliamentary board, but ``in deference to the wishes'' of a majority of party workers here, the state unit of BJP itself has decided not to join the government, Naik said.
The party, however, has decided to extend ``unconditional'' support to the government which has promised to fight corruption. ``The decision would be communicated to the BJP's central leadership atits national executive meeting beginning in Jaipur tomorrow,'' Naik added.
