SURAT, Aug 20: The South Gujarat Railway Passengers' Association has, in a letter to Union Railway Minister Nitesh Kumar, listed down six demands, which they say have been pending for the last seven years. The association is demanding that more trains be halted at the Udhna and other railway stations upto Valsad. The association has suggested that the Bhilad Surat Memu, arriving in Surat at 9.55 am and departing at 5.25 pm, lying idle till 5.25 pm, be extended upto Vapi and its return timings be adjusted so that it reached Surat at 4 pm.
Pointing out there was no express train from Surat to Mumbai from 14.30 to 12.00 hours, the association has demanded that the railways run a duplicate Flying Rani of any Express Train at 18.00 hours from Surat.
Observing that the season pass was given from Surat to Mumbai but not from Surat to Ahmedabad, association president B M Shah has demanded that pass facilities be extended to all stations and freedom fighters be provided with coupons. The Karnavati Express should be halted at Navsari in memory of the Dandi Yatra and a booking counter be opened at the station exclusively for women.
