Hidden assets unearthedIncome-tax officials unearthed unaccounted assets worth Rs 2.10 crore, including Rs 10 lakh in cash and jewellery, during raids in the premises of a Vadodara-based chemical manufacturing company in Mumbai, Vadodara and Diu since Wednesday. They also seized share certificates and papers relating to jewellery, while six bank lockers were sealed, sources said.

Train schedule
Passengers of the 4845/4846 Ahmedabad-Jodhpur Express are requested to take note that the train has been introduced only between Ahmedabad and Jodhpur and will not halt or pass through Vadodara.

Docs' stir off
With the State government agreeing to consider the 56 per cent hike in the junior doctors' stipend, the Junior Doctors Association (JDA) have called off their strike, which was scheduled to begin from August 24. A JDA spokesman said that an assurance in the context was given by State health secretary following a meeting of JDA representatives from Ahmedabad, Surat, Jamnagar and Vadodara on Thursday in Gandhinagar.

Ganesh pandals
Police and municipal officials at a meeting on Thursday urged organisers of Ganesh pandals not to charge money from devotees coming for `darshan'. The meeting called by Commissioner of Police Kuldip Sharma to discuss security arrangments for the festival was attended by Member of Parliament Jayaben Thakkar, Mayor Bharati Vyas, Deputy Mayor Dinesh Chokshi, among others. The participants also appealed to people to keep the height of idols low so that they did not face any problem during the immersion procession.

Power supply
The agricultural sector will receive 16 hours power supply by the Gujarat Electricity Board with one of the two out-of-order 500 MW power stations in Maharashtra becoming functional on Thursday. The State Irrigation Department released more water for the Kadana and Ukai hydro-power stations bringing an improvement in the situation. An official spokesman said improvement in voltage was reported with starting of 315 MW transformer at Jetpur.

Walk-out
Eleven Board of Directors of the Baroda District Co-operative Milk Producers Union Limited on Thursday staged a walk-out, when president Kirit singh Maharaol did not accept their proposal to initiate action against those involved in the purchase of 400 kg almonds without permission. Their proposal stated that almonds were purchased at the rate of Rs 320 per kg.

Chitale takes over
Vijay Chitale, a 1967 officer of the Indian Postal Service, took over as the Postmaster General of the Vadodara Postal Region on Wednesday.

Family planning
District Development Officer Anju Sharma and Chief District Health Officer V T Javli have stressed the need to organise more workshops to propagate the idea of family planning and gender sensitisation.
