Atapattu, Muralitharan guide Sri Lanka to win
A brilliant unbeaten century by opener Maravan Atapattu (132 n.o.) and a five-wicket haul by off-spinner Muttiah Muralitharan helped Sri Lanka win the Triangular Series at the Lord's yesterday in emphatic fashion with more than two overs to spare. Earlier, Muralitharan took five for 34 in 10 overs to turn the game Sri Lanka's way.

Paes routs Bruguera
Leander Paes continued his dream run by thrashing former French open champion Sergei Bruguera of Spain in straight sets to storm into the third round of the $875,000 Pilot Pen tennis tournament. Paes, who knocked out Swiss Marc Rosset in the opening round, maintained his giant-killing act by brushing past Bruguera 6-1, 6-2 to follow upon his equally one-sided 6-3, 6-0 first round victory.

IOA hits back at BCCI
The Indian Olympic Association (IOA), smarting under the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) snub, hit back saying that the team will be disqualified, ``if there is any further delay in selecting the team and sending the names to the Commonwealth Games Federation.'' A letter to this effect has also been sent to Raj Singh Dungarpur, president of the BCCI.
