He has been directed to be released on bail after furnishing personal bonds of Rs 1 lakh along with a surety of the like amount.

The Judge, while taking up his bail plea, had earlier ordered Harcharan Singh's medical examination by a team of heart specialist.

Seeking bail for him, the defence counsel had contended that the accused was a heart patient. They had stated that he was undergoing treatment at Batra Hospital and Medical Research Centre at Delhi and also at the PGI. The accused was examined for heart trouble by the doctors at the Sector 16 General Hospital a day before the shooting incident.

The counsel had also stated that the accused was getting himself medically examined when apprehended by the police on July 6. He along with his family, had come to the City on personal work two days before. But they could not return as Harcharan was taken ill, the counsel added.

The doctors' report stating that the accused was a old case of heart disease, diabetics and hypertension was also enclosed along with the application.
