NEW DELHI, Aug 23: The Supreme Court while commuting the death sentence awarded to a woman and three others in a brutal murder case has ruled that courts should not disbelieve evidence given by child witnesses. The woman Ramshree and others were convicted of murdering four members of the neighbour's family on the basis of evidence given by a child who survived the brutal attack and were sentenced to death by the trial court, which was upheld by the Allahabad High Court.
The Supreme Court while agreeing with the conviction based on the evidence adduced by the child, said ``It is not the law that if a witness is a child his evidence shall be rejected, even if it is found reliable.''
